Medscheme South Africas managing director has been appointed the permanent head of the multi-medical aid scheme administrator, Medscheme Holdings
09 June 2014There's a new leading man at the helm of Medscheme Holdings. Kevin Aron, the current managing director of Medscheme South Africa, which administers various medical aid schemes including Government Employees Medical Scheme, Bonitas, SABC Medical Aid Scheme, Nedgroup Medical Aid Group and Sasolmed, has been appointed the new permanent CEO of the group.
An announcement by Medscheme's holding company, AfroCentric Investment Corporation today confirmed that Aron will take the reins from acting CEO and Chief Financial Officer Wallace Holmes from 1 July. Holmes took over temporarily when former CEO André Meyer left at the end of February.
According to the Medscheme SA website, Aron obtained a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from the University of the Witwatersrand. He served his articles at accounting firm Ernst & Young and obtained his MBA from the Henley Business School in the UK.
He then accepted a management accountant role at South African Druggists, the largest South African-based pharmaceutical company at the time.
Aron then became a new business development manager at Healthcare Management Services before moving to Medical Services Organisation, a healthcare risk management company, where he climbed the corporate ladder to become the financial director and later the chief operating officer.
Prior to joining Medscheme as chief operating officer in October 2009, Aron was with commercial banking firm Investec. In October 2011 he was got an internal promotion to managing director, a position he has filled until now.
