Training and development

Learning & Development Objectives   Interventions implemented
The continuous enhancement of employee competencies through learning and development initiatives aimed at ensuring that employees reach their full potential in the work environment.   At the start of the financial year, managers submit their training needs for their areas to HC. These needs are to address the development requirements of their employees to ensure the objectives of the unit are achieved. All training needs are then formulated into our training plan for the financial year. We will also now start focusing on how to measure the value gained from these training interventions.
Organisation-wide learning and development interventions aimed at strengthening the capability of AfroCentric Health thereby improving organisational performance.   Organisation wide interventions have largely included our leadership programmes as discussed in the below sections.
Talent development programs aimed at addressing scarce and critical skills.   We have implemented a Leadership Development Programme that addresses high potential employees, critical and scarce skills with the aim of developing/enhancing competencies of this targeted group for future leadership and succession.
Talent development Programs aimed at High Potential employees.   We have implemented a Leadership Development Programme that addresses high potential employees, critical and scarce skills with the aim of developing/enhancing competencies of this targeted group for future leadership and succession.
Accelerated development programs for designated groups, in line with AfroCentric Health transformation objectives.   We are designing a programme that will accommodate a selected group of female employees. This will be a women leadership development programme that will address competencies and skills specifically relevant for women.
Leadership development programs to strengthen the leadership brand.   We have implemented the Evolve and Ignite programmes over 2012 and 2013. This was aimed at Team Leaders, Managers and Senior Managers, as well as Specialists at these levels. The objective was to ensure that all employees at those levels attend the programme over 2012 or 2013 to ensure a leadership standard was created throughout the business.
Continuous development of all professionals within AfroCentric Health.   All employees who are in positions that require professional membership are required to ensure they maintain their membership with the professional body. The funding of this is not carried by the business but can be at management discretion.
